Cahors. 30 candles for the Crossroads of Science and Art

The association Lotoise Carrefour des Sciences et des Arts is celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2024!

Thirty years of cultural mediation dedicated to science.

Thirty years of professional experience in pedagogy applied to science and environmental education.

The association creates innovative mediation tools (escape games, interactive exhibitions, debates, etc.) and organizes meetings between those involved in science and audiences of all ages. The main goal is to bring science and society closer, to provide citizens with tools for maintaining curiosity, developing critical thinking and the ability to form an informed opinion. The mobilization of young people, especially girls, towards the scientific, technical and industrial sectors is also an important part of their activities towards the school audience.

In January 2024, two of their events in Cahors were already sold out: a preview of the documentary Ultima Patagonia in partnership with the Center Terre association (220 people came) as well as a conference on the topic of oxytocin with CNRS bronze medal winner Marcela Hibert, professor at the University's Faculty of Pharmacy in Strasbourg (150 people welcome).

This new scientific year reflects the year that the association is preparing for its triple tenth anniversary: eclectic, friendly and intergenerational!

Future events not to be missed: Nature Camp on Saturday 3 February, Night of the Winter Stars on Mont St Cyr on Friday 9 February, in partnership with the Gigouzac Astronomy Club, Science Workshops in Cahors (Yes We Code in partnership with C Genial Foundation) and in Figeac as part of the two-week Graines de moutards, a dessert conference on plate tectonics on Tuesday 19 March, an evening of science and Harry Potter on Friday 29 March at the dining room de la Prade in Pradines in partnership with the Pradines Media Library.
